Winter

Winter is an American death/doom band from New York. They take their name from the Amebix song of the same name.


Employing vocals reminiscent of death metal, they were acknowledged as creators of some of the heaviest and slowest doom metal ever composed! The album was re-released in 1992 by Nuclear Blast, and again in 1999 (including the EP). Released during a time when death metal bands were vying for the fastest-band-in-the-world tag, Winter slowed the pace down to a crawl and helped usher in a new take on death metal—death/doom metal.
